We will soon see on the market Motorola smartphones in the “rugged” category, resistant to shocks, extreme temperatures and contact with various substances. Bullitt Group, the company that also built rugged phones for Caterpillar (CAT), obtained a license from the US smartphone maker to build such devices under the Motorola brand.
Motorola has licensed rugged phones to Bullitt Group, a company with experience in the field

Bullitt announced the partnership in a press release stating that it is a long-term and exclusive agreement. This means that Motorola will not produce other rugged phones without Bullitt’s involvement, and the Motorola brand will not be used by companies other than the two already involved in the smartphone market.
“This is a strategic alliance that allows Bullitt to apply its expertise to Motorola’s product portfolio. Motorola invented the mobile phone and remains one of the most important brands in the world. Receiving Motorola’s trust to create a rugged phone portfolio is proof of the exceptional business Bulitt has built over the past 11 years, ”said Dave Floyd, Bullitt’s co-founder.

Dave Caroll, CEO of Motorola’s Strategic Brand Partnerships Division, also had an optimistic message:
“Bullitt has stood out as a leader in the durable furniture market. These devices have a wide audience, from fans of outdoor hiking and adventurers to regular customers who just want ultra-durable phones. We look forward to working with Bullitt to improve the resilience of our products, which will allow Motorola to have a new, growing presence among mobile phone users. ”
Given that the new partnership has only just been established, it will probably be some time before we see the first products from this alliance. The two companies have promised more details in the near future, before the end of this quarter.
